Prostate cancer occurs when prostate gland cells grow uncontrollably in males. Here are some of the symptoms and stages of prostate cancer. 

Symptoms of prostate cancer
Here are some of the common symptoms of prostate cancer. It is important to note that these symptoms might also attribute to some other conditions and not just prostate cancer. So, it is important to get due to consultation from your doctor. 

Urination problems
One of the most common symptoms of prostate cancer is that the person has urination problems. These include urine stream, which slower than normal, hematuria, is the occurrence of bleeding while urinating, and the inclination to urinate frequently.

Apart from the above, you might even have a burning sensation while urinating, or you might have difficulty in emptying your bladder.  

Numbness and pain
Prostate cancer might turn out to be metastatic cancer, which might have spread to the other parts of the body as well. When this happens, it causes pain in areas such as the chest, back, and pelvic region. 

Also, if it further spreads, your bladder and legs might become numb.

Sexual issues
Impotence is one of the symptoms of prostate cancer. 

In this case, you are not able to keep an erection. After ejaculation, you might also notice blood in your semen, which may also signify that you might have a possibility of prostate cancer.

Stages of prostate cancer
Prostate cancer is segregated into four clinical stages, which are discussed below in brief – 

• T1
  Here tumor is not seen during CT scan or DRE but could be found during surgery for some other medical conditions
• T1A
  Tumor discovered accidentally during surgery for benign prostatic hyperplasia, and the cancer is found only in 5 percent of removed tissues
• T1B
  Cancer cells are seen in more than 5 percent of removed tissues
• T1C
  The tumor is observed when a needle biopsy is conducted when PSA levels are elevated
• T2
  The size of the tumor is significant enough that it is seen in DRE
• T2A
  In this case, the tumor affects one half or less of the prostate’s one side
• T2B
  At this tumor takes over more than one half of the prostate’s one side, but it hasn’t reached the other side
• T2C
  Both the sides of the prostate are affected
• T3
  At this stage, the growth of the tumor spreads outside the prostate as well.

A – The growth spreads outside the prostate but not to seminal vesicles.

B – The tumor even affects seminal vesicles

• T4
  At this stage, tumor growth is not just confined to seminal vesicles but even to other tissues next to the prostate, such as the urethral sphincter, rectum, bladder, and pelvic wall.
